What is the 0.1-second song game?
Blipsong is a free 0.1-second song guessing game you play in the browser. You hear a 0.1-second clip, type the song title, and every wrong guess unlocks a longer listen — 0.5, 1, 2, 5 and 10 seconds.
Is there a free song guessing game I can play without downloading an app?
Yes. Blipsong runs in the browser on phones and desktop with no app download and no sign-up, and the Daily is free every day.
Does Blipsong keep my streak if I come back tomorrow?
Yes, on the same browser. The Daily gives everyone the same song for the date and resets at 00:00 UTC, and your streak is stored locally in this browser — clearing site data or switching browsers starts it over.
Why do I recognize the sound but not the title?
A melody, a singer’s voice and a song title are different clues. In a tenth of a second you may only hear a drum hit or part of a vowel. A longer listen can reveal a phrase that connects those clues. Missing the first guess is part of the challenge, not a measure of your musical ability.
Are previews always the start of the song?
No. The preview supplied by the source may start at a chorus, a verse or another section. Every replay in your round starts from the same point in that preview, so the longer clips build on what you have already heard. We do not move the starting point to make a question easier.
Why can 0.1 seconds sound different on my phone?
0.1 seconds is a playback target. Browser scheduling, output buffering and Bluetooth audio can affect the audible length. Try the same clip twice with your device volume set comfortably. The Playback check panel shows a media-clock measurement, not the exact sound reaching your ears.
Can I guess the artist or just part of the title?
Enter the song title, not the artist. Case, accents and punctuation are normalized. Recognized version or guest-credit labels are ignored only inside trailing parentheses or square brackets. The title’s body still matters: “With or Without You” is not shortened to “You”. A small explicit alias list accepts familiar alternate names; arbitrary fragments do not count. The title rules list the supported labels.
Will a title-rule update change my old score?
No. Completed rounds retain their recorded right/wrong answers, attempts and result; they are not graded again under the new title rules. An unfinished round keeps the attempts already made, and a new guess uses the current rules after you reload.
When does the Daily reset?
At midnight UTC, not midnight in every player’s local timezone. Everyone receives the same stored track for that UTC date. A failed stream does not select a replacement. If a recording is removed after a rights request, that Daily becomes unavailable rather than becoming a different question.
Why did I see the same Unlimited round in another tab?
Tabs in the same browser share saved progress. Reopening Unlimited resumes the saved round; it is not a new random draw. New draws share a persistent history, including across dates. Browser locks serialize simultaneous draws where supported. Private mode, cleared or blocked storage, another browser or the end of the finite pool can allow songs to recur. This is not account-based cross-device synchronization.
What happens if a preview will not play?
Check volume and connectivity, then retry. A failed or interrupted playback does not spend a chance. Sources can restrict regional availability or remove a preview. Daily keeps the same question; Unlimited offers an explicit option to try another track. Tell us the browser, date and track if the issue persists.
Does sharing reveal the answer?
The shared score and colored tiles do not include the title or an audio URL. Link previews use a generic Blipsong brand image. A social app may cache its previous preview; that cache is separate from your score. You can also save the existing image card.
Where is the full song, and who handles rights requests?
